The inspiration behind our business is family. We are family-oriented and take care of our loved ones. As Black and Brown people, we are often misdiagnosed, neglected and mistreated within this world. We found that there was a lack of care and attention when it came to our stories. Our Mothers and their Mother’s inspired us to do something about the injustice we were experiencing.Co-Owner Nefertiti Schell is Liberian-American, 1st generation. Her family ancestry is composed of Midwives, Village Doctors, Nurses and Healers who carried great pride in serving others and appreciated by their community. Her mother is the drive for her motivation. Schell’s mother escaped Liberia in hopes of a better life, experiencing such tragedy and loss and being forced to leave her children behind. Schell dove into Doula and Birthwork after hearing the rate of fibroids/fertility issues in Black Women. The shock of this inspired her to find answers and push the envelope.Next, Co-Owner and Founder Alexus Adams is Afro-Latina whose family values Herbal Medicine and Religion in their work. From the South to California, Adams’ family roots left a legacy of multifaceted people who value the transformation of self for the greater good and leading by example. While Adams was in Massage Therapy school, she received the news of her cousin passing. The lack of medical care and grief motivated her to get into Alternative Medicine and Care. She aims to educate and empower those who may be lost or have loss.We are sick and tired of our community suffering from those that don't care for us. We are creating the standard of what Health and Wellness should look like, one patient at a time.
